  • Be Concise - Be mindful of how long you are speaking for, anything over 4 minutes we may interject and pass to someone else.

  • Be Relevant - Please also try to be relevant, the best way is to reference the part in the text which you wish to discuss. Limit referencing other texts because others may not have read them or may not be interested in the other text. Limit using personal anecdotes.

  • Be Equal - Please help us encourage equal air time for all attendees. If you have had your hand up a lot or have been talking a lot please consider waiting for someone else who hasn’t spoken before going again. Equality means everyone please turn on your video, so we can all equally see your expressions along with your words.

  • Be On Time - Joining on time means everyone has equal information on the conversation, so on time joining creates inclusion and respect for all.

  • Be Respectful - For example, please don’t insult other people, use curse words unless absolutely necessary. Dont show up intoxicated or make inappropriate unwanted advances towards other attendees.

  • Be Self Aware - Be aware of how you come across. Try not to be “neurotic”, that is, being negative and critical, instead try positivity and empathy. Manage your impulses to talk over people, dominate the conversation or pass judgment on other ideas. Please try and make eye contact with each person instead of maintaining it with just one person. Regulate how you speak, note how much time you spend talking in certain ways, for example if you tend to criticize things, try and be empathetic, or if you tend to want to explain things, try being curious, if you tend to jump topics to talk about your own ideas, try instead and focus on the current idea and conversation and connect to it instead. If you tend to have one fixed point of view that you promote, such as your religion, political beliefs, scientism, atheism, mysticism, etc etc, please please try to be open and release your beliefs for the duration of the conversation, no proselytizing.
